Students from the Fukuoka School of Medical Technology at Fukuoka CampusFaculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology in the Omuta City Development Design Competition

Four students from Teikyo University Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology Yuya Sekigawa, an assistant professor in the Department of Department of Radiological Technology, participated in the Omuta City Development Design Competition, held at the Omuta Innovation Creation Center Aurea and Omuta Heights from Sunday, September 1st to Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. The aim of this competition was to incorporate the free thoughts and ideas of students who will be Assistant Professor future leaders of the city into the development of Omuta City.

The students conducted fieldwork walking around Omuta city with participants from other universities and exchanged opinions with local people, expanding on their ideas for urban development. In the workshop that followed, the students were divided into groups to summarize their impressions from the walk and ideas for urban development based on Omuta's current situation, and at the final day's presentation, they presented plans full of unique ideas. The students faced the difficulty of considering whether the ideal ideas they had come up with were feasible and formulating plans, but they seemed to be inspired in new ways that they would not get in their regular classes. One student who participated said, "The process of turning ideas into reality in a short period of time was very fulfilling, and it gave me a great sense of accomplishment."

The public judging session for this competition was held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, and Ogushi Keia (4th year Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology) and Kurosawa Hidetaka (4th year, Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology) were awarded the Omuta Prize, while Yasujiki Riku (3rd year Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology) and Kikuta Nagisa (4th year, Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology) were awarded the Urban Regeneration Prize. They were later presented with a certificate by Futoshi Mihara, Dean of the Faculty.
