A guest speaker from Tama Zoo was invited to theHachioji Campus Omnibus Lecture Series "Symbiosis between Humans and Animals"

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus, an omnibus lecture entitled "Symbiosis between Humans and Animals", led by Professor Rui Kano Teikyo University Institute of Medical Mycology, was held, with Yuko Doi, a staff member at Tama Zoological Park, as the guest speaker.
Our university and Tama Zoological Park have signed a basic agreement on collaboration to jointly develop academic research and Community Engagement activities, and this class was conducted as part of that agreement with the cooperation of Mr. Doi.

In the lecture, the students learned about the origins and history of zoos, including Tama Zoo, and the social role that zoos play, with a particular focus on Tama Zoo's role as an educational facility. In the second half of the lecture, a quiz was held based on some of the observation sheets distributed free of charge by Tama Zoo, and students concentrated on answering questions that could only be answered by careful observation, such as the shape of a koala's fingers, the color of a flamingo, and the mane of a lion. Our university will continue to promote research and education aimed at realizing a better symbiotic relationship between humans and animals.
